Daughter and Dad Coffee is run by Lia and Justin, a daughter-dad duo with roots in the UAE coffee industry going back almost two decades.

In 2007, a year after the family relocated to Dubai, Justin founded Orbis, roasting beans to sell at the Dubai Marina weekend market. What began as a small operation grew steadily over the years, built on consistency and word of mouth rather than marketing. Desert Palm was one of his first clients. Since then, Orbis has grown into a large-scale commercial roastery, supplying speciality coffee to hotels and coffee shops across the UAE.

Having moved to the UK for university, Lia completed a Master's in Psychology before deciding to change direction. In 2021, she moved back to Dubai once COVID restrictions eased, wanting to create a space where the community could gather and connect, somewhere people could slow down after a difficult few years. The idea brought together an established coffee background with a genuine interest in community building, shaped by her studies in psychology. That combination is what shaped Daughter and Dad Coffee.

They keep things simple rather than following trends. In a city known for its fast pace and constant reinvention, their focus has stayed the same: quality coffee, honest food, and genuine service. They know their regulars by name and order, and aim to make every visitor feel welcome from the moment they arrive, whether it's their first visit or their hundredth.

Lia's approach has been guided by one principle: "do it scared." She had no clear picture of what Daughter and Dad would become when she started, only that it was worth doing. That mindset has shaped the way the business has grown, steadily and deliberately, without losing sight of what matters.

Today, Daughter and Dad is a space for nature-lovers, dog owners, families and horse riders alike, set within the greenery of Desert Palm. Whether stopping by for a coffee or settling in for the morning, the aim is the same: consistency, warmth and a genuine welcome.​
